Judge Rotenberg Center
This project transforms an existing three‑story, 60,000‑square‑foot office building into a specialized educational environment through a comprehensive design‑build renovation. The adaptive reuse approach preserves the building’s structural integrity while reconfiguring interior spaces to support a new academic program.
The design introduces classrooms, administrative offices, activity zones, and a commercial kitchen with dining areas, all organized to promote accessibility and safety. The central atrium, featuring a three‑story glass elevator, is re‑engineered to meet “made‑safe” standards through new guardrail systems and enclosure modifications. Core restrooms are expanded, and additional staff facilities are integrated to improve circulation and functionality.
Phased construction begins with lobby and stair renovations, followed by the kitchen expansion and full MEP/FP system upgrades across all floors. The program also includes specialized student amenities such as a fitness center, internet café, snack store, and reward shop. The resulting design establishes a cohesive, high‑performance educational facility that merges technical precision with a supportive, inclusive spatial experience.
